| About Pbiocoll | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Privately owned biological collections have played a major role in the development of taxonomy and systematic research over the centuries. Many have become the nuclei of great public museums or have been dispersed to other collections. Others have unfortunately been lost, their value unrecognised by subsequent owners. The purpose of this list is to enable those involved with private collections to work together to ensure that their value is recognised and that their valuable material is made available for study and protected from destruction in the future. It is about passing on knowledge of new publications, techniques and materials that can assist with this work. To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the Pbiocoll Archives. |
